Which?, a UK consumer group, looked at Black Friday 2024 prices in a year-long window and reported in November 2025 that 83% of products were the same price or cheaper at some other point in that year. It depends on the price before the sale. A deal is real when the price you pay is lower than what the same item cost in the weeks before, and the "was" price on the sticker doesn't prove that.
